One of the best parts of our job is encountering and learning about new cultures. When we had the chance to photograph an Indian wedding, we jumped at the chance! Sheena and Eric got married over Labor Day weekend at the Darbe Mehr Zoroastrian Temple in Pomona, NY and we had so much fun with them and their families! The colors, the food, the music, and the people made for a perfect night. Sheena and Eric had a more Western ceremony and reception in Atlanta last month and this was their Indian reception. Let’s get to the photos!

Sheena wore a beautiful white sari for her Darbe Mehr wedding and she and her new cousins looked stunning!

The happy couple before the evening began!

The Darbe Mehr is a brand new facility and is absolutely awesome.  The temple was funded largely through donations by its members and they’ve ended up with a great venue.

chavda_05

Darbe Mehr means “Fire Temple” in Persian and fire and pure water are the agents of spiritual purity in Zoroastrianism.  Temples are built to house sacred fires.

Sheena and Eric had set up some great decorations and favors to go along with the Temple.

Eric’s mother put together a surprise for the couple to kick off the party.  She had friends and cousins get up and surround the couple while the DJ switched music to something much more upbeat. Sheena and Eric were caught completely off-guard, as you can see from their expressions!

Several very touching toasts followed from Eric’s parents, Eric’s best friends, and the couple themselves.

Sheena’s grandmother came all the way from the Middle East to celebrate.  She was at the Darbe Mehr last week, she was in Atlanta last month, and she was in India in December when these two had an engagement party!

It takes guts to ask out your boss, but that’s exactly what Jose did when he and Stephanie worked together many years ago and it’s evident from the time we’ve spent with them (including their awesome Bear Mountain engagement session) that they are a perfect fit. We first met Stephanie and Jose at Kristin and Vinny’s wedding in April 2013 and already knew we’d love to work with them when their big day came. Luckily, they felt the same way, so we were there last weekend when these two got married at Round Hill Mansion, catered by FEAST Caterers. Stephanie and Jose could not have asked for better weather or a better group of people to celebrate with. Let’s get to the photos from this amazing day!

Jose works for Louboutin, so of course they both wore killer shoes, including these stunning heels for Stephanie.

Sarah and Michael’s Skylands Manor wedding on July 23rd was an epic day with gorgeous summer weather, a beautiful venue, and one of the best couples we’ve ever had the chance to meet. Someone on the guest list must have bribed mother nature because the forecast called for a humid, 97-degree day but the weather broke about 20 minutes before the ceremony and we ended up with absolutely perfect conditions. The day started with Sarah at David Ezra Salon, who do absolutely stunning hair and makeup.  Here’s the soon-to-be bride!

Sarah and Michael choreographed and practiced their first dance. There were some nerves, but they knocked it out of the park!

Sarah’s sister, Michael’s brother, and Sarah’s father gave heartwearming toasts that had everyone alternating between tears and laughter.

Sarah and Michael – you guys are amazing. From the initial planning, to our engagement session in Hoboken, to last Saturday, you’ve been nothing short of fantastic. We absolutely loved getting to know you and we felt so welcome and at-ease all throughout your big day. We hope you’re having a blast in Antigua – you certainly deserve it – and can’t wait to see what your life together has in store. Congratulations again!
